דרור קרטה

הקונטיינר שמח לארח בחלל המרכזי את האמן דרוד קרטה, בשלוש סדרות מתוך עבודותיו האחרונות, אותן יצר בסטודיו בנחלת בניימין אליו היגר מעין הוד לפני כשלוש שנים.
הסדרות מציגות הבנה עמוקה בחומר וצורה.
קרטה משתמש בעץ ובפסולת שהוא מוצא ברחוב כחומר גלם ליצירותיו. כאספן בנשמתו, הוא צובר את כל מה שיוכל לשמש יום אחד לעבודותיו. עינו מחפשת תמיד את היפה במה שמקובל לראות כמכוער או מוזנח, ועם זאת הוא אף פעם לא מייפה את החומר, משטח, מיישר או מלטש לצורך האמנות.
הדמויות הנשיות, המהוות מוטיב חוזר בעבודותיו, נוכחות בתערוכה. קרטה רואה את עצמו כריאליסט – הוא מציג בתערוכה את המציאות שמונחת בעולם שסביבו. התערוכה מציגה גם את תפיסתו של קרטה שלמרות שנעשים מאמצים להשוות את מעמד הנשים לזה של הגברים – הפער עדיין קיים ועבודתו מתייחסת לכך.
הסדרה השנייה היא המייצגת הנאמנה של דרור קרטא. היא עשויה כולה מפיסות עץ אסופות שמשמשות את קרטא ליצור ולצייר את הבדים עליהם הוא עובד. התוצאה היא דינמיות ואלימות שחיות בהרמוניה של צורה וצבע המיוחדים לאסטטיות של קרטה.
דרור קרטה
גר בעין הוד ועובד בתל אביב. הוא הציג רבות בארץ ובעולם ומציג בימים אלו בגלריה פלורנטין 45 בדרום תל אביב. יצירותיו מוצגות במוזיאון ינקו דאדא, מוזיאון אילנה גור ובקונץ פלס מוזיאום בדיסלדורף שבגרמניה.

The Container is proud to present the works of Israeli artist Dror Karta at the Main Space gallery. Featuring in the exhibition are three of Karta's recent series of works created since his move to his current studio in Nachalat Binyamin from Ein Hod over three years ago.
Displaying an innate understanding of material and form, Karta uses scrap wood and castaways that he finds on the streets as raw material for his art. A horder at heart, he collects and stores what he can for his purposes. His ever appreciating eye for the beauty in what is considered ugly, Karta does not alter the shape or attempt to improve on his scraps to, perhaps, make the surface smooth or the edges straight. Prominent in the exhibition is the female form which is a recurring theme in his work. Karta refers to himself as a realist. He claims to represent in his art the reality which he observes in the contemporary world around him. Though there are steps in the western world at bridging the gap of inequality for women, he uses his work to comment on the still existing void.
Karta's women are generally victims. They are week and even those few who are dominant are rarely happy. Karta takes a keen interest in the relationships women experience from a sociological standpoint and not a personal one. These figures are not a testament to a string of failed relationships or a critique of women at large but rather the way women are treated. Sex is approached by Karta as another truth, a fact that moves and motivates us.
